As the nationwide unemployment rate approaches 10 percent, the web technology job market in the Boston metro area continues its impressive rebound. For the fourth consecutive month more Top 20 skills posted increases than decreases over the previous month.

In particular, 16 of the Top 20 Web Technologies in Boston were mentioned in more job postings in early October than in early September.

Over the four-month period from early June to early October there has been an increase in job postings in all 20 of the Top 20 skills. The technology skills that experienced at least a 50% increase in demand over this four-month period are as follows:

One skill, not listed in the Top 20, experienced an impressive 357% increase during this four-month period. In early June this technology was mentioned in only seven job descriptions. In early October it was listed in 32 job descriptions. This accounts for a 10-position climb from #50 to #40. The technology climbing the charts with a bullet is jQuery!

This month's Boston Market analysis confirms that Web Developers are in demand and the pay is above average. An analysis coordinated by CareerBuilder.com reveals that the national mean salary for all workers is slightly more than $41,000. "Web Developer" was listed as one of 20 jobs with an entry-level salary higher than the national mean. Entry-level salary for a Web Developer is listed as more than $67,000.
